I have designed this site so that patients and also psychological clinicians and workers to help them understand exactly how the controversial class of neuro/psych meds work in the brain;.
My main motivation to create a site such as this has been the bugging I've gotten from friends :-) That said, I also studied biology in college and have also had opportunities to work in the research field (especially neuroscience), and I've actually found this stuff to be quite interesting. Of course, I'm not a doctor or healthcare practitioner, so don't really take any anything I say as medical advice!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot... being on the business end of the neurological and psychiatric disorders (in my case, Asperger autism my entire life and 3-5 years of meningitis/encephalitis) hasn't hurt my desire to write up this site, either. Honestly, once you're stomped by a moose, you gain a greater appreciation for that animal. (And before you ask, no, that's not a Sarah Palin quote!)
Special thanks go out to Melinda (this site was actually her idea after I started spouting out information about the 5HT-2 receptor!) .I would also like to thank my parents, both for emotional support and financial support that was required to start up this site and deal with the meningitis I suffered from 2005 to early 2009. Lastly, I would like to thank Drs. J.R.S., R.M., K.R., M.O., and D.R. for being good hands in the care of my headache of a neurological syndrome - and most importantly, helping me resolve it in early 2009.
